How To Prevent Swelling In Hot Weather

Prevent Swelling In Hot Weather

In the summer, you might be more likely to swell up in different parts of your body.

Swelling usually occurs because the body isn’t able to effectively remove fluid from tissues. You might be familiar with uncomfortable or embarrassing swelling at the ankles or feet or may even notice that your joints feel stiffer than normal.

The good news is, hot weather doesn’t have to automatically mean swelling! There are a few simple ways for you to keep swelling to a minimum, even during the hottest days of the year.

Build Up Your Exercise Routine

Getting the blood pumping is one of the best ways to avoid swelling, as consistent blood flow will keep your tissues from collecting excess fluid.

If you don’t have an exercise routine, try to think of one that you can start getting into as soon as possible. Whether this involves walking, running, or some other aerobic exercise, make sure that you’re getting your heart rate up and the blood flowing.

Already have an exercise routine? In that case, you’re one step ahead! Just make sure that your routine is conducive to getting the blood pumping around your body.

If most of your exercises are weightlifting or stretch related, consider adding some cardio to your regular routine.

Water Is Your Best Friend

Remember, it’s always important to keep your body properly hydrated, especially during the hot summer months! Make sure you’re frequently drinking water in order to keep your body operating at its best.

If you’re the kind of person who frequently forgets to drink water, try carrying a water bottle with you throughout the day. This will encourage you to drink water more often, and can benefit your overall health!

Keep Cool And Say Goodbye To Swelling

By staying cool, exercising, and drinking enough water, you’re sure to mitigate any chances you may have of swelling during hot days.
